In general there is no onboard programming procedure for newer replacement remote keys. Key fobs must be programmed by a professional locksmith. Please contact an automotive locksmith to get an accurate quote so they can program this key fob once you receive it.

Just needed the rubber skin but on this aftermarket replacement the contacts are sodered to the board and not glued to the rubber like the OEM, but I only got one key fob when I bought the car so maybe I'll eventually have it programmed as a backup

Having a backup key fob programmed is always a good idea, especially since you only have one at the moment. That way, if something were to happen to your primary key fob, you won't be locked out of your car.
