OE- Level Diagnostics

Autel IM608 Pro has an independent JVCI interface that communicates wirelessly by Bluetooth but Autel IM508 doesn’t have any Bluetooth and connects directly to the vehicle. IM608 Pro also has standard ECU coding and an active test function. IM508 has a basic complete service function but IM608 Pro has the advanced one.

IMMO

Autel IM508 and Autel IM608 Pro both have standard IMMO ECU reset/adaption, ECU coding, IMMO data backup/restore, key generation/learning, read pin, and auto-detection with guided and automated key learning functions. IM608 Pro has 3rd generation IMMO, add key, all key lost via OBD but IM508 doesn’t come with this function, IM508 needs an XP400 programmer for this function.

To Read / Write / Erase Benz ESL_W209 / W906 data and also for Benz OE NEC key learning, Autel IM608 Pro needs to add extra adapters, on the opposite IM508 also needs XP400 pro and extra adapters. 

Other than that, both Autel IM608 Pro and IM508 have Volkswagen MQB key learning via OBD, Volkswagen/Audi 4th & 5th generation IMMO key learning, BMW FEM/BDC key learning & Adaption, and BMW CAS4/3/2/1 key learning functions. 

2015-2019 Jaguar/Land Rover Write Key via dump and Volvo Smart Key/Fobik Smart Key Learning come as standard functions in IM608 Pro but you’ll need an XP400 Pro programmer for IM508.

To unlock Volkswagen/AUDI/BMW key, you need an extra adapter for IM608 Pro and for IM508, you will need the XP400 Pro and an extra adapter.

Programming

Autel IM608 Pro comes with advanced EEPROM Read/Write, MCU Read/Write, Immobilizer Read/Write, and Engine Read/Write Functionality whereas IM508 comes with basic EEPROM & MCU Read/Write.

Mercedes Infrared Key Read/Write and Remote Frequency Detection in IM608 Pro are standard functionalities but IM508 needs an XP400 Pro programmer for these functions. 

At the end of the comparison we see that the IM608 Pro has better key programming and diagnostic capabilities than the Autel MaxiIM IM508, but with the addition of the XP400 Pro to the Autel IM508, it can have the same IMMO capabilities as the IM608 Pro.

When to choose Autel MaxiIM IM508?

• If you want to program keys for Japanese cars (Toyota, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Honda) and other cars, but not European cars (Mercedes Benz, etc.)

• If you do not need a powerful system-wide diagnostic

If you already purchased the AutelMaxi IM508 tool for key programming and need to do key programming for BMW, or Benz, we recommend purchasing the XP400 Pro. It is more economical and affordable than the Autel IM608 Pro and has the most powerful Autel IMMO features.
