Keep Your Motorcycle Safe
Don't Give Them A Chance
Whether it's from thieving hands or unfortunate weather, perhaps the best solution to keep your motorcycle from harm is to keep it out of reach. Store your bike in a garage at home and in covered parking while out and about.
Where the Sun Does Shine
Most people are not tempted to commit a crime in broad daylight. So if you can't find an attendant-manned parking spot, let the general passing-by public keep watch for you.
Lock High Up
Set your lock on your motorcycle so that it rests high off the ground, making it harder to steal. Low-set locks are easier to break, as thieves can use the ground as leverage, so placing your lock higher eliminates this advantage.
Steering Lock
This lock makes your motorcycle non-maneuverable, making it ten times harder for thieves to take off with it. So whenever you leave your bike on its own, make sure the steering lock is on.
Don't Rely On Disc Locks
While disc locks may prevent a thief from driving off with your motorcycle, it won't stop them from just carrying it away. Make sure that the motorcycle is attached to some sort of grounded anchor, so that no one can take your bike away without leaving traces of it behind.
Erase Those Lock Numbers
Did you know that sometimes a lock's code is printed on the lock itself? This is meant to help you remember the code, but it also makes a thief's job much easier. So be sure to check for and scratch off those numbers.
Double Up
For thieves, double locks mean double trouble. Naturally, more than one lock will make it harder for the thief to take off with the bike, and more than one kind of lock increases the chances that they won't have the right tools to break the locks.
